Devil Inside
Anything, Everthing, Whatever

And into the frying pan. As I write this, it’s crunch time for me, with assignments demanding attention one after another. Combine it with UK universities being anal over details, and you have a royal pain in the bunghole of a paper to write. Yes, yes, I DID say I would try and write something on my blog to keep it running, but the problem is that sometimes, you just can’t be bothered. In my case, it was 5 months. This is my longest hiatus as of now, and no, there is nothing worth writing about, so there.

Seeing the situation I’m in now, it’ll be quite a while more before I can find time to update again, but I’ll make sure it won’t be too long. Penning off.

P.S. I notice my blog hits kept increasing even though it was inactive. To the person(s) who were so kind, I sincerely thank you for wasting 10 seconds of your life to check my blog every once and then.

It has been about a week and a half since my semester break started. The previous term did a number on me, there were many close calls and stuff. Writing about ethics and sociology is not as easy compared to merely discussing it.

Now I literally have 4 months of break before the next term starts, and I’m already bored out of my skull. Being the unmotivated and lazy ass I am, I plan on spending it leisurely with video gaming. Recently, I made it a habit to meet up old friends over lunch to catch up with them. It’s kind of refreshing to talk to them after not seeing them for over 5 years. A few of whom I’ve talked had interesting stories to tell, some had completely changed during our high school days, while some just never changed.

On another note, I’ll be going on a short trip to Singapore sometime in early July with my cousins, being my second visit there (since 2001). It’s been awhile since I went traveling so I’m kind of looking forward to it. What I’m planning to do with the remainder of my break remains to be seen.

First off, apologies for not updating in a long time. But I figured I should keep this blog alive somehow even if I had to write a complete load of crap. Semester has just begun last week and I’m expecting shittons of work to pile up in the near future. I orginally intended to post about last year’s Comic Fiesta 09 but procrastination got the better of me, so meh.

Until I find something meaty to stuff in here, expect another long pause before I decide to write another meaningless post just for the heck of it. Till, then, I’m out.

Kudos to Poslaju for promptly and swiftly delivering my beloved Yoshika fig to my doorstep when NO ONE is around, AGAIN. You guys totally deserve the Come-Get-The-Damn-Package-Yourself Award. Nevermind that they put a dent on my parcel. I thank Customs for that.

On to the main topic.

First, my thanks to Alter for picking up the Strike Witches line. I can now look forward to the remaining Witches of the 501st Joint Fighter Wing to add to my collection. Figurine above is the first in line and protagonist of the Strike Witches anime, Miyafuji Yoshika, hailing from the Fuso Empire (that’s Japan in our world). Seen in her A6M Zero Striker unit, she brandishes a Type 99 aircraft cannon at the ready. The gun uses a drum-fed mechanism for its ammo rounds, and it even has a flip-up sight, a nice touch to it. The rotors on her Striker unit is swappable for an idle rotors version, but I decided to keep the spinning rotors on to give off an impression that she’s airborne. She even has the 501st JFW coat of arms emblazooned on her right sleeve as shown. Pretty sweet. Yoshika gains the ears and tail of a mame-shiba (a Japanese dog breed) when she activates her powers while piloting her Striker unit. She also has a mame-shiba as her familiar, a kind of summoned being, as a physical manifestation of a Witches’ power.

I got the figurine mainly because I’m interested in the Strike Witches universe, which the names of the characters, Striker units and settings are named after real pilots, planes and events during WW2. Given that, Strike Witches has plethora of characters, weapons and military vehicles from tanks to planes to firearms. It is pleasant to know Alter will not stop at Yoshika and continue to produce more figurines from the Strike Witches line. Here’s hoping Alter will eventually pick up characters from the other JFWs, most notably the Fuso Imperial Navy,  Karlsland Luftwaffe, 504th, 507th and the Afrika Corps.

Yeah, I know it’s a little late, but better late than never.

First of all, I would like to praise Poslaju for their impeccable timing on delivering my shipment to my house when everyone (including me) was conveniently out at the time. And all I got was a ‘Sorry’ note asking me to come pick it up at their branch office. No shit, Poslaju. No shit.

Now that’s out of the way, on to the main feature.

Words cannot describe how awesome this figurine is. The 9-month wait was worth it after all. The sculpting is godlike and the base for the figurine is crafted to extreme detail (broken flooring has never looked this pleasing to the eye). The Rock Cannon she holds is a lovely sight, although it was a tad too light, I was expecting a little more weight from it, but that’s a minor issue here. Her standard right eye is swappable for her iconic azure flame eye (which I had done so) visible above. The black chain is a nice little touch to the figurine as well.

This figurine towers over any of the other figurines I’ve owned so far. It’s essentially close to double the height of the ones I have right now. In any case, this is one figurine that is going to stand out in my collection no matter what. Also, there is the upcoming Black Rock Shooter Black Blade ver. which looks pretty cool as well, though her pose is essentially the same as it’s former which makes it a little mundane. I prefer the Rock Cannon ver. myself.

P.S. My dad bought a 40″ HDTV without me even knowing. I love you, Dad. You’re awesome.

This game is just too freaking awesome. Buy it, steal it, get it by whatever means. This game is a keeper.
